David's Den--Everyone has a Story

Oct 23, 2024

A recent Telephone Conversation shows that we all face challenges that can be overcome!

Facing the truth, we must all realize that one day we will need services like those offered at the Law Office of Carol Bertsch, PC. From establishing wills to probating an estate to having to care for an aging loved one, we will all face some of these challenges that life throws our way. Acting as the Intake Specialist for the Law Offices of Carol Bertsch, PC, I encounter so many amazing people who are facing these same dilemmas in their lifetime. The adage, “everyone has a story” really does come true in this job.

Can you imagine spending a better part of your lifetime caring for a disabled sibling or partner? That’s happened to one of our callers and she was really looking for relief, relief for herself and for her loved one. After having a wonderful conversation, I told our caller that I admired her ability to put her life on hold while she cares for a loved one. But there comes a time when our loved one is better served in a professional setting, and we can get on with our lives! Her amazement shocked me as she thought we were both on the same wavelength. But the truth is, we’re all on that same wavelength. We desperately want to care for our disabled loved one, but the time comes when they are just too much to handle and need better care in a home or in a facility that offers 24/7 assistance. While at the same time, we should be able to get on with our lives and find our joy. I could sense the caller smiling from ear to ear when I mentioned this is now her chance to get her life back so she can live her best life.

If you’ve been a full-time caregiver, it’s easy to feel like you must handle everything on your own. But asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength and responsibility. By considering professional care, you’re ensuring their well-being while also taking steps to protect your own. Our attorneys are now working together with this caller, working to get her loved one the care they need and the financial assistance they need as well.  We’re here to help you navigate the complexities of this decision. Whether it’s understanding long-term care options, or Medicaid Strategizing, our team of experts is ready to guide you through this challenging process.

Remember, we are all in this together and we will all face these same obstacles in our lifetime. What better way to face these challenges than with people in our own community who care about our well-being and who have the smarts to know how to maneuver the system so we can get the help we need. Cheers to you for caring for a loved one and cheers to us for helping you achieve the perfect combination of getting help for your loved one while at the same time, getting the joy back in your life!
