Elder E-Letter: Summer 2019

Currently a senior at St. Mary’s University, Roderick Burnside is studying Accounting and Data Analytics. He is a recent addition to the team, serving as a marketing intern. Roderick is passionate about personal growth and helping others, and he volunteers for San Antonio Youth Literacy, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and he is on the board of the San Antonio College Alumni Committee. Above all else, Roderick loves meeting new people and learning from them.

Come join The Law Offices of Carol Bertsch, PC for the 2019 Buddy Walk

The Buddy Walk is an event that celebrates individuals with Down syndrome and increases awareness and inclusion. This one-mile walk is a family event and will include onsite activities such as music, face painting, inflatables, a train, vendor booths, and food trucks. Activities will be from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Walk starts at 11 am.

Join our team for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Together, we can advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s, and provide programs and support to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans.

May 9-10 – Carol and Ellen attended the National Academy of Elder Law Attorney’s conference in Fort worth, Texas

May 15 – Ellen attended the UT Health Planned Giving Advisory Council luncheon at the Mays Cancer Center

May 21 – Ellen participated in a round table discussion at St. Paul Catholic Church about Powers of Attorney, Wills, and Guardianships

May 22 – Ellen Patterson, Jody Hudspeth, and Roderick Burnside attended the Voices for Children of San Antonio Annual CAM Messina Child Advocacy Award Luncheon

May 23 – Carol attended the Silver Sabbath ‘Aging Gracefully’ Symposium along with Paralegal Toni O’Brien and Marketing Intern Roderick Burnside

May 30 – Ellen presented Getting Your Affairs in Order to the North Star Mall Walkers Club

June 8 – The Law Offices of Carol Bertsch, PC attended The Patient Institute’s Elegant Evening Gala

June 13 – Carol presented The Essentials of Caregiving: Legal and Financial Planning (June 2019) at UT Health Caring for the Caregiver Program

June 18 – Ellen gave a speech for the Patient’s Institute MCCI Wellness Medical Center on Guardianships and Powers of Attorney

June 20 – The Law Offices of Carol Bertsch, PC participated in The Tito Villalobos Moreno Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser tournament

June 25 – Carol presented To Probate or Not to Probate at Oasis at San Antonio Oasis
